Lessons In Layering

The temperature has dipped, and I’m resisting the urge to spend the rest of winter living in Oversized Knits. When the weather turns, I get so uninspired with outfits and want to be warm and cosy- meaning I neglect 90% of my wardrobe. This winter, I’m determined to make the most of my clothes and find ways of wearing my pieces while staying warm- my number one tip? It’s all about the base layers.

Uniqlo Heat Tech and M&S Heatgen are my go-to’s for their incredible range of affordable thermals. I’ll be layering under my Tees, Dresses, and even wearing the leggings under my jeans for ultimate warmth. Thermal polo necks work great under shirts and dresses, and the long sleeve tops are great to team with graphic tees (a look I first spotted on Uber Stylish Laura Bailey and have been copying ever since).

My Heist Tights will be worn with dresses usually saved for warmer weather, and thick socks will be pulled up high and worn under my jeans and boots.

Hoodies are having a fashion moment and are great worn under a smarter coat (with all the base layers underneath of course).

Don’t be scared of the double coat- I’ve been adding my Holzweiler Sol Jacket over EVERY outfit. One massive bonus of Puffer Jackets being on-trend means you can wear a pretty dress and throw on your puffer and still look stylish. I’ve been sticking to my fail-safe formula of Jeans, Tee, and Blazer and finishing off the look with an oversized coat. Double layering a thinner jacket with a heavier overcoat looks super chic, especially when you mix prints and textures.
